Terms of use

Last updated

These terms are the agreement between you and the Re.Food team for using the Re.Food app and website. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Re.Food.

How we handle your data is described separately, in our privacy policy.

Who can use Re.Food

You must be at least 18 years old. The app deals with weight and calorie goals, so it is for adults only, and it asks for your date of birth when you set it up.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself — you are responsible for what happens on your account. Give us an email address you can receive mail at: we use it to confirm your account, reset your password and write to you about your purchases. You can delete your account at any time, as described in deleting your account.

What you may post and send

Re.Food lets you share posts, recipes, photos, videos, comments and ratings, and send messages to other people. There is no tolerance on Re.Food for objectionable content or for abusive users. You may not post or send anything that:

  • harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates anyone, or targets them for who they are;
  • is hateful, or attacks people for their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sex, gender, sexual orientation or any similar characteristic;
  • is sexually explicit or pornographic, or sexualises anyone under 18;
  • is violent or graphic, or encourages violence, self-harm or dangerous eating behaviour — including content promoting eating disorders;
  • is spam, a scam, or misleading advertising, or impersonates another person;
  • is illegal, or infringes anyone else’s rights, including their copyright or privacy;
  • contains someone else’s personal information without their permission.

You keep ownership of what you post. So that we can run the app, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display and distribute it within Re.Food and at its shared-post links, for as long as it is on Re.Food. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people have already shared, and backups that are overwritten on their normal cycle.

Reporting, blocking and moderation

You can report a post from its ⋮ menu, a comment or a review from the ⋯ beside it, an account from the ⋮ on its profile, and a chat from the ⋮ in the chat — which lets our moderators read that conversation. You can also write to support@re-food.app. We review reports within 24 hours. When something breaks these terms we remove it, and we suspend or permanently close the account of whoever posted it, according to how serious it is and whether it has happened before. While an account is suspended or closed it can’t sign in, and its posts, comments, reviews and profile are hidden from everyone. If you think your account was suspended by mistake, write to support@re-food.app.

You can block anyone who bothers you, from the ⋮ on their post or profile, the ⋯ beside their comment or review, or your chat with them. From then on you don’t see their posts, comments, reviews or messages, they can’t message you or comment on your posts, and they aren’t told. You can undo it in Profile → Settings → Blocked accounts.

Only post photos, videos, music and recipes that you made yourself or have permission to use. A video keeps the sound it was filmed with, so music playing in the background — or a song added to the video in another app — counts too. If a video has music in it that you don’t have the rights to, switch off Original sound before you publish it, and it is posted without its sound.

If you own the rights to something posted on Re.Food without your permission, email a copyright notice to our copyright agent, with the subject Copyright notice, and include:

  • the work you own;
  • the link to each post you are reporting — anyone can copy it from the post’s ⋮ → Share — or enough detail for us to find it;
  • your name, postal address, phone number and email address;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by you, your agent or the law;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you own the rights or are authorised to act for whoever does; and
  • your signature — typing your full name is enough.

Our copyright agent is Copyright Agent, Re.Food, at support@re-food.app, registered in the US Copyright Office’s directory of designated agents.

We take a post down within 24 hours of receiving a complete notice, and its author sees why on the post. Re.Food users can also report a post from its ⋮ menu, under Copyright.

If your post was taken down for copyright and you believe that was a mistake — because the work is yours, you have permission, or the law allows your use — write to support@re-food.app with the post’s title or link and why, and our moderators look at it again. If it was taken down because of a copyright notice, make your reply a counter-notice to our copyright agent, which also includes:

  • your name, postal address, phone number and email address;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith that the post was taken down by mistake, or because what it contains was misidentified;
  • a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the US federal district court for the district your address is in — or, if your address is outside the United States, of any judicial district in which Re.Food may be found — and that you will accept service of process from whoever sent the notice, or from their agent; and
  • your signature — typing your full name is enough.

We send your counter-notice, with your contact details, to whoever sent the notice. Unless they tell us first that they have gone to court to keep the post down, we put the post back 10 to 14 business days after your counter-notice reached us.

We close the accounts of people who infringe copyright repeatedly.

Health information is not medical advice

Re.Food helps you keep track of what you eat and how active you are. Its calorie and macro targets, nutrition figures and AI meal scans are estimates — product data can be incomplete, and an AI can misjudge a plate. They are not medical advice. Talk to a doctor or dietitian before making significant changes to your diet or weight, and especially if you are pregnant, have a medical condition or have had an eating disorder.

Re.Food Premium and purchases

Re.Food Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, and AI scans can be bought in packs. Both are bought through Google Play or the App Store, and paid for with the payment method on your Google or Apple account.

  • Renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, and your store account is charged within 24 hours before the period ends — unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before then.
  • Cancelling. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Google Play or App Store account settings, or from Profile → Settings → Re.Food Premium → Manage subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Premium stays on until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds. Refunds are handled under the refund rules of the store you bought from. Purchases in the App Store can only be refunded by Apple.
  • AI scans. Scans you buy are added to your account, and stay yours if Premium ends.

We may change what Premium includes or what it costs. A price change applies from your next renewal, after the store has told you about it.

Advertising

Re.Food shows ads between posts on the Food screen, as described in our privacy policy. Premium subscribers see no ads.

Things you may not do

Don’t misuse Re.Food: don’t try to access other people’s accounts, break or overload the service, get around its limits or moderation, scrape it, or use it in a way that breaks the law.

Ending your use of Re.Food

You can stop using Re.Food and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, as described above, and we may end the service altogether; if we do, we will tell you in advance where we can.

Our responsibility to you

We work to keep Re.Food running and accurate, but we provide it “as is” and can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have by law as a consumer, or our liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited. Otherwise, we are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses, or for what other people post or send.

Apps downloaded from the App Store

If you got Re.Food from Apple’s App Store, these terms are between you and the Re.Food team, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for Re.Food or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Apple’s standard licensed application end user licence agreement also applies to your use of the app, and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Changes

If we change these terms we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app before a significant change takes effect. If you keep using Re.Food after that, the new terms apply.
